Selected BCSSE and BCSSE/NSSE Results
BCSSE institutions receive a BCSSE report, data file and template to produce student-level advising reports, and a combined BCSEE/NSSE report that provides an in-depth look at first-year student high school characteristics and their engagement during their first year of college.
Institutions also have the flexibility to produce their own analysis to address their specific needs. For example an institution may be particularly interested in the how the amount of hours spent preparing for class relates to expected and actual grade performance. To investigate this, the institution could produce the following graphs using BCSSE and NSSE data.
Using BCSSE data, institutions can report on the number of hours per week students
reported preparing for class in high school by their high school grades.
Using BCSSE data, institutions can also report on the number of hours per week students
expected to spend preparing for class in college by their expected college grades.
Using NSSE data, institutions can report on the number of hours per week students
reported preparing for class in college by their college grades.
Using combined BCSSE/NSSE data, institutions get a better understanding
of how accurately college students are able to predict their actual reported
college grades.
